The Museum, founded in 1889 is the oldest one in the Republic of Moldova. The Museum ’s collections comprise almost 135 thousand specimens of genuine scientific value. Belonging to national cultural patrimony they have been displayed abroad in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.
There are petrographical, paleontological, botanical, zoological, archeological, ethnographical and coin collections.
Because the Basic Exhibition named “Nature, Man, Culture” houses only a small part of the total number of pieces, during the following years the Museum will provide some temporary thematic exhibitions: of birds and animals, folk garment, folk architecture and furniture, etc.
